FLOWER TEAS

Flower teas

Fall is officially here and colder days bring back the craving for a good cup of… you thought I was going to say coffee didn’t you? But no… this is for all tea lovers out there. I’m referring to a good cup of soothing, exquisite, aromatic tea. Sorry, but that doesn’t include your Lipton tea bags, no offence to Lipton.

I would like to introduce you to flower teas also referred to as blooming teas. Some of you may already be familiar with them, but for the most part, people have only recently started to discover them.

Flower teas are considered a luxury tea and were initially only served to Chinese royalty. They are hand-fashioned by Chinese tea-makers of exceptional skill into lovely flower bouquets that magically unfold when steeped in hot water. Flower teas are dried flower blossoms hand tied in green tea leaves combining the beauty of flowers to the benefits of tea. Unlike most teas, flower teas do not require a strainer or tea bags and can be steeped 3 to 4 times. It is best appreciated using a glass teapot and will dazzle your guests next time your serve tea whether they are tea lovers or not.

Flower teas are also becoming a popular wedding favor and they can be packaged according to taste and budget. Even corporations looking for “green” gift ideas are offering flower tea gift sets as corporate gifts.

The crafting of these beautiful bouquets translates to an aromatic, delicate and therapeutic experience unlike any known in the Western world. Each exquisite flavor will tantalize your senses and satiate your palate. So the next time you crave for a good cup of tea, dare to try something new…

I bought some very lovely flowering teas for my daughters birthday. She wanted to have a fairy tea party. I purchased the pink fairy tea for the centerpieces for the table. The ball was made of green tea and had a lily in the middle. The flower was huge and lasted for nearly a week. I was so surprised, since I was just hoping for it to last through the party. I also purchased a variety to give away as party favors. The ones I purchased were called "tea drops" from an on-line store.
